West Texas Showdown 2026 is a multi-day endurance cycling and bikepacking event presented by Old Man Mountain. Based in Terlingua, the event takes riders into the rugged landscapes of Big Bend, offering challenging routes for experienced endurance cyclists as well as a guided group ride for those seeking a more approachable adventure.

The West Texas Showdown is the flagship route, covering 390 miles. It begins with a paved rollout from Terlingua before heading into the wild terrain of Big Bend Ranch State Park and beyond. A Singlespeed category is also available for riders seeking the same challenge on a single-speed bike.

The West Texas Slowdown covers 290 miles and offers a shorter but still demanding route through Big Bend. Riders can expect gravel park roads, rough country tracks, and some singletrack sections. A Singlespeed option is available for this distance as well.

For riders looking for a less competitive experience, the West Texas Lowdown is an 85-mile, non-competitive guided bikepacking group ride. Based on the “Otherside of Nowhere” route, it is designed to introduce participants to the scenery and adventure of Big Bend in a more approachable format.

All three route options offer a different level of challenge, from the long-distance flagship event to the guided group ride. Registration is limited to 100 participants. Tracking devices and weekend camping at Temple of the Bird are available for purchase separately.
