A Midsummer Texas Classic Under the Century-Old Oaks
Date: Saturday, July 25, 2026
Location: Old Settlers’ Grounds, 100 Vine St, Buffalo Gap, TX 79508
Event Information
Join us under the cooling shade of centuries-old live oak trees for the 43rd annual Tour de Gap. As contractors for this event, we are proud to showcase what has become “THE classic Midsummer Texas Ride.” Nestled in the historic village of Buffalo Gap, this ride offers a perfect blend of challenging terrain and small-town charm.
Beyond the cycling, your participation serves a vital purpose: all proceeds benefit the Presbyterian Medical Care Mission in Abilene. By riding, you are helping to “bridge the gap” in healthcare for the uninsured in the Big Country area. Whether you are chasing a personal record through the hills or enjoying a slow roll with the family, the spirit of community and the scenic vistas of Taylor County make this a true bucket-list event.
Ride Distances & Routes
The Tour de Gap features three distinct routes through the rolling hills of south Taylor County:
- 100K (62 Miles): The signature route for endurance riders, featuring significant elevation changes and panoramic views of the Callahan Divide.
- 50K (31 Miles): A popular intermediate loop that captures the scenic essence of the region without the full metric century distance.
- 11-Mile Family Fun Ride: A leisurely, beginner-friendly route designed for families and those new to cycling events.
Support and Amenities
We take pride in our “West Texas Hospitality” to ensure every rider is supported:
- Rest Stops: Five fully-staffed rest stops are strategically placed along the routes, stocked with hydration, fruit, and snacks to keep you fueled.
- Scenery: Experience the unique “Gap” geography, where the southern Great Plains meet the rolling hills of the Texas Hill Country transition zone.
- Post-Ride Atmosphere: Relax after your ride in the shaded Old Settlers’ Grounds. It is the perfect spot to reunite with friends and enjoy the historic atmosphere of Buffalo Gap.
