About the Ride:
Midnight Massacre is a nighttime gravel cycling event returning to Gainesville for another year. The ride brings cyclists together at 35 & Liberty, a venue with indoor and outdoor gathering areas, food and drinks, restrooms, ample parking, and convenient access from I-35.
Riders can choose from 25-, 50-, and 75-mile routes. The 25- and 50-mile courses will be marked, while the 75-mile route will be unmarked where it separates from the shorter routes. Registered riders receive free access to Ride With GPS for navigation, and routes can be downloaded to compatible cycling computers during the week of the event.
The event emphasizes self-reliance while out on the course. There are no stores or other amenities along the routes, so riders should carry enough food, water, and supplies to sustain themselves for at least 25 miles at a time. The route returns to the staging area at 25-mile intervals, where neutral water tables will be available and riders can resupply from their vehicles.
The evening begins with check-in at 4:30 PM, followed by a riders’ meeting at 5:50 PM and a 6:00 PM mass rollout. An after-party begins around 8:00 PM and continues into the evening, with snacks and cold soft drinks at the finish. Riders can also enjoy the food and bar at 35 & Liberty, with on-site camping and pay-per-use showers available.
