Great Cycle Challenge USA

Ride September to Kick Cancer’s Butt

Date: September 1 – September 30, 2026

Location: Your Community (Virtual / Self-Paced)

Event Information

This September, cyclists across the country are uniting for the Great Cycle Challenge USA, a national movement to end childhood cancer. As contractors for this event, we are proud to support the Children’s Cancer Research Fund (CCRF). Since 2015, this community has grown into one of the largest cycling initiatives in the United States, raising over $80 million to develop safer, more effective treatments for the 15,700 children diagnosed with cancer each year.

The beauty of the Great Cycle Challenge is its total flexibility. There are no start lines or set routes; you set your own mileage goal and ride throughout the month at your own pace. Whether you are a casual commuter or a high-mileage roadie, every mile you log via Strava or the GCC app helps fund life-saving research at top institutions like St. Jude’s and Texas Children’s Hospital.

How the Challenge Works

  1. Set Your Goal: When you register, you choose a personal mileage target to hit during the month of September (e.g., 100, 500, or 1,000 miles).
  2. Log Your Rides: Use the free Great Cycle Challenge app, connect your Strava or MapMyRide account, or manually enter your miles on your personal challenge page.
  3. Fundraise: Share your profile with friends and family to raise funds for the Children’s Cancer Research Fund.
  4. Earn Gear: Riders who raise $500 or more receive the official 2026 Great Cycle Challenge Hero Jersey to wear during their rides.

Why Ride for CCRF?

Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease for children in the United States. CCRF uses funds from this challenge to:

  • Seed Innovations: Provide seed funding for researchers that often leads to millions in follow-up federal grants.
  • Improve Survivorship: Fund research into “after-cancer” interventions that enhance the quality of life for survivors.
  • Support Families: Highlight kid ambassadors—like Joel, Bryleigh, and Kylie—to share their stories and inspire action.

Event Schedule

  • Now – August 31: Registration is open. Set your goal and start building your fundraising page.
  • September 1: Official Kick-Off. Start logging your miles.
  • September 30: Final day to log miles for the 2026 challenge.
