Cyclists, the West Texas horizon is calling. Bike MS: Cactus & Crude offers a unique opportunity to experience the rugged beauty and “wide-open freedom” of the South Plains. As contractors for this event, we are proud to highlight that this ride captures the true spirit of Lubbock—featuring friendly faces, iconic vistas, and a community that shows up strong to fight Multiple Sclerosis.
Starting and finishing at the beautiful English Newsom Cellars, the route delivers fast, flowing miles along roads where the sky feels bigger than anywhere else. Whether you are chasing a personal speed record on the flat Texas Panhandle terrain or simply soaking in the scenery, every mile pedaled supports life-changing research and services for the MS community.
Ride Options & Distances
Cactus & Crude is a one-day ride designed to accommodate cyclists of all skill levels:
- 70-Mile Route: The premier long-distance challenge for endurance riders.
- 50-Mile Route: A solid intermediate distance through the heart of the South Plains.
- 25-Mile Route: A scenic, shorter loop perfect for recreational riders and novices.
- Age Requirement: This event is open to riders aged 12 and older.
Support and Amenities
Participants can expect the world-class support that defines the Bike MS experience:
- Rest Stops: Fully stocked “Oasis” stations are located every 10–12 miles, featuring hydration, snacks, and enthusiastic volunteers.
- Safety & Mechanical: Professional SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles and bike mechanics patrol the routes to ensure every rider stays on the move.
- Finish Line Celebration: Return to the vineyard at English Newsom Cellars for a festive post-ride party featuring local flavors, music, and community connection.
Fundraising & Requirements
- Fundraising Minimum: To participate, each rider must reach a minimum fundraising goal (typically $300).
- Impact: Your efforts fund critical research and provide essential services for the nearly one million people living with MS in the United States.
Event Schedule
- 6:30 AM: Check-in and breakfast at English Newsom Cellars.
- 7:30 AM: Official Start (Staggered starts by distance).
- 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM: Post-ride celebration and awards at the winery.
