Event Information
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society invites you to the 38th Annual Bike MS: Ride to the River. As contractors for this event, we are proud to support one of South Texas’s most impactful cycling traditions. This two-day journey takes riders from the vibrant atmosphere of San Antonio deep into the rolling landscapes of the Texas Hill Country, ending with a legendary celebration along the Comal River.
Whether you are a seasoned cyclist or a beginner, Ride to the River is designed to foster meaningful connections and inspire action. By joining this powerful community of cyclists and volunteers, you are helping to fund life-changing research and services for those living with Multiple Sclerosis.
Ride Options & Distances
The 2026 event offers flexible participation options to accommodate all skill levels:
- Two-Day Challenge: The full experience, riding from San Antonio to New Braunfels on Saturday and returning on Sunday.
- One-Day Option: Perfect for those with a tighter schedule, with distances typically ranging from 30 to 75 miles on Saturday.
- Route Variety: Routes are designed to be inclusive, offering flat stretches and challenging Hill Country inclines.
- Age Requirement: This event is open to riders aged 12 and older.
Support and Amenities
Bike MS is famous for providing a world-class, fully supported experience:
- Rest Stops: Themed rest stops are located every 10–12 miles, stocked with snacks, hydration, and high-energy volunteers.
- Safety & Mechanical: Professional SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles, bike mechanics, and medical teams are stationed throughout the route.
- Overnight Festivities: Saturday night in New Braunfels features a massive team village, dinner, live music, and river-side relaxation.
- Luggage Handling: Organizers provide luggage transport from the start line to the overnight location and back.
Fundraising & Requirements
- Fundraising Minimum: To participate, each rider must reach a minimum fundraising goal (typically $300).
- Impact: Funds raised go directly toward the National MS Society’s mission to cure MS while empowering people affected by the disease to live their best lives.
Event Schedule
- Saturday, October 3:
- 6:30 AM: Start line festivities and breakfast.
- 8:00 AM: Official Start from San Antonio.
- Afternoon: Finish line celebrations and team village in New Braunfels.
- Sunday, October 4:
- 7:30 AM: Day 2 departure for the return leg to San Antonio.
- 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Grand Finale celebration.
