A Premier Citywide Cycling Event in Houston, Texas
Date: Sunday, April 12, 2026
Location: 1001 Avenida de las Americas Houston, TX US 77010
Event Information
The Tour de Houston offers a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to explore the nation’s fourth largest city from the saddle of a bicycle. This annual event, presented by Apache Corporation, takes riders on a scenic journey through Houston’s historic neighborhoods, diverse districts, and lush urban parks. More than just a ride, the Tour de Houston serves as a significant fundraiser for the Houston Parks and Recreation Department, with proceeds directly supporting citywide reforestation efforts and the enhancement of local green spaces.
The 2026 edition continues the tradition of showcasing the city’s vibrant culture and architectural history. Whether you are a dedicated cycling enthusiast or a leisure rider looking for a fun Sunday outing, the event provides a well organized and safe environment for all participants. The ride begins in the heart of downtown at Avenida de las Americas, offering a grand start and finish atmosphere at Discovery Green.
Ride Distances
The Tour de Houston features three distinct route options to accommodate various skill levels and training goals:
45 Miles: The premier distance designed for experienced cyclists and those training for upcoming major endurance events like the MS 150. (Start: 8:00 AM)
20 Miles: A moderate route perfect for intermediate riders who want to see more of the city’s historic districts. (Starts immediately after 45-mile riders clear.)
10 Miles: A short, accessible route ideal for families and casual leisure riders. (Starts immediately after 20-mile riders clear.)
Support and Logistics
Participants will enjoy a fully supported course with regular rest stops and police escorts at major intersections. Safety is the top priority; therefore, helmets are strictly required for all participants without exception. The routes are secured until 1:00 PM, and no riders will be allowed to leave the start line after 9:30 AM.
After completing the course, riders are invited to the post-ride party at Discovery Green. The celebration includes live music, free food, and refreshing beverages, providing a perfect opportunity to relax and socialize with the local cycling community.
