Ready to Ride for a Cause? Join us for the 5th Annual Gear Up Against Kids Cancer on Saturday, May 2, 2026!
Since the first ride in April 2022, this event has established itself as a powerful force in the fight against pediatric cancer. To date, nearly 2,000 cyclists have pedaled over 100,000 miles, collectively raising more than $75,000 to support groundbreaking childhood cancer research right here in San Antonio.
Signing up for this ride is a powerful way to turn your passion for cycling into a meaningful impact. Every dollar you raise helps fund essential research projects at the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute – UT Health San Antonio (GCCRI). The GCCRI is dedicated to translating scientific knowledge into novel therapies for childhood cancers, with key research strengths in cancer genomics, DNA damage, RNA biology, and innovative drug development.
Your participation fuels hope, creates a sense of camaraderie within the cycling community, and transforms every mile into progress. Crucially, 100% of the funds raised stay local, directly supporting research that seeks to turn today’s discoveries into tomorrow’s life-saving treatments for children in the community fighting cancer.
Ride Distances and Schedule
The ride offers three routes on the scenic roads of Wilson County, Texas:
- 60 Mile Ride
- 40 Mile Ride
- 28 Mile Ride
Schedule (Based on prior event logistics):
- 6:00 AM CDT: Check-in, packet pick-up, and last-minute registration begins.
- 8:00 AM CDT: Wheels down for the 60-mile riders.
- 8:15 AM CDT: Wheels down for the 40-mile riders.
- 8:30 AM CDT: Wheels down for the 28-mile riders.
- 11:00 AM CDT: Rider lunch begins.
Registration and Fees
The registration fee supports the event logistics, on-course support, and rider amenities.
