Join us for the inaugural Ride: The Legacy of a Servant’s Heart, a memorial cycling event dedicated to honoring the life, service, and profound legacy of Daniel Ortiz. As contractors for this event, we are proud to highlight a ride that prioritizes safety, respect, and the spirit of community. This fundraiser serves as a tribute to a “servant heart,” bringing together riders of all experience levels to support a meaningful cause.
The event features the wide-open roads of West Texas, offering a flat and fast course characteristic of the Permian Basin. Whether you are a local resident or traveling to Andrews for the first time, you will find an atmosphere of camaraderie and purpose. Please note that this event is open to participants 18 years of age or older.
Ride Distances & Strava Routes
Choose the challenge that best fits your experience level. All routes are designed for road, gravel, or hybrid bikes (E-bikes are not permitted):
- Expert Ride (50 Miles): For seasoned cyclists looking for an endurance challenge.
- Moderate Ride (30 Miles): A solid intermediate distance for active riders.
- Beginner Ride (10 Miles): A shorter, accessible loop for those new to cycling events.
Support and Logistics
The House of Mercy Church serves as the central hub for all pre- and post-ride activities:
- Packet Pick-Up: Friday, May 15, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the House of Mercy Church.
- Parking: Ample parking is available in the church lot. Please follow the directions provided by our volunteers.
- Safety: The event emphasizes respect for the road and fellow riders. Standard cycling safety protocols are in place.
Sponsorships & Donations
This event relies on the generosity of the community to fulfill its mission:
- General Donations: Contributions of any size are welcomed to support the ride and its beneficiaries.
- $500 Sponsorship: Includes your business name or logo on the official event banner. To be included on printed materials, sponsorships must be secured by April 16, 2026.

Event Schedule
- Friday, May 15: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Pre-race Packet & Bag Pick-Up).
- Saturday, May 16:
- 6:30 AM: Doors Open and Day-of Check-in.
- 8:00 AM: Race Begins Sharp. (All distances depart).
