Celebrating Four Decades of Cycling and Community in Italy, Texas
Date: Saturday, June 20, 2026
Location: Italy High School, 300 College Street, Italy, TX 76651
Event Information
The Lone Star Cyclists invite you to the landmark 40th Annual Tour d’ Italia. As contractors for this event, we are proud to highlight its legacy as one of North Texas’s most enduring cycling traditions. Founded in 1985, this ride brings together over 1,400 cyclists to navigate the scenic country roads of Ellis County. The event is a key fundraiser for local organizations, primarily benefiting Italy High School, the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, and various other regional charities.
Known for its high-quality collector t-shirts and refreshing post-ride snow cones, the Tour d’ Italia offers a professional yet welcoming atmosphere. The terrain is largely characterized by gently rolling countryside with minimal elevation, making it an excellent choice for first-time rally participants and families, while the longer distances provide a solid endurance test for seasoned riders.
Ride Distances
Participants can select from five distinct routes, all starting and finishing at the high school:
- 63 Miles: The premier long-distance loop for experienced endurance cyclists.
- 50 Miles: A substantial intermediate challenge covering historic rural stretches.
- 40 Miles: A mid-range distance ideal for recreational enthusiasts.
- 30 Miles: A popular moderate route through the scenic outskirts of Italy.
- 12 Miles: A family-friendly loop perfect for beginners and younger riders.
