The Legacy 100

A Premier Cycling Event in Schulenburg, Texas

Date: Saturday, May 30, 2026

Location: Schulenburg, Texas (Exploring the historic Painted Churches area)

Event Information

The Legacy 100 is a scenic and purposeful ride that takes cyclists through the mostly quiet back roads of Fayette County. This event is famous for its route through the beautiful Painted Churches area of Texas, providing a unique cultural and historic backdrop for participants. As a ride dedicated to a cause, the primary beneficiary is the Alzheimer’s Association through the Ride to End ALZ Texas. The event is designed as a ride rather than a race, prioritizing community support and life extending research over competitive timing.

Participants can look forward to a warm welcome in Schulenburg with fresh local kolaches and locally brewed coffee available before the ride while supplies last. The atmosphere is centered on relaxation and camaraderie, featuring a post ride meal for all riders and volunteers. For those looking to unwind after their time in the saddle, the finish area includes various games like cornhole to enjoy with fellow cyclists.

Ride Distances

The Legacy 100 offers four distinct route options to ensure that every rider finds a distance suited to their skill level and training goals:

105 Miles: The premier full century route for seasoned endurance athletes looking to maximize their impact.

62 Miles (Metric Century): A classic long distance challenge through the heart of the Texas countryside.

31 Miles: A moderate distance designed for intermediate riders seeking a steady morning challenge.

15 Miles: A shorter route perfect for casual participants and those new to the cycling community.

Support and Logistics

Riders can expect a well managed experience with a staggered start based on the chosen distance. While there is no chip timing to ensure maximum funds go toward charity, all riders will receive a recognition item for completing the ride. Safety and honesty are encouraged, as riders may drop down in distance on ride day for free, but those moving up in distance are asked to update their registration and pay the difference to support the charitable mission. The course is supported with the necessary infrastructure to ensure a safe and enjoyable journey through the rural landscapes.

Registration

Online registration is available through the official BikeReg portal. To be guaranteed a post ride meal, participants must register by the deadline of May 20, 2026. While day of registration is available, meal tickets cannot be guaranteed for late sign ups.
