Formerly known as “Rock-N-Ride,” Pedal in the Pines is a signature cycling event presented by the Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce. As contractors for this event, we are proud to highlight its integration with the local Log Jam Fest, a community celebration of Cleveland’s rich logging and timber history. This ride offers a unique opportunity to escape the city and immerse yourself in the towering pines and serene landscapes of the Sam Houston National Forest.
The event is designed to be inclusive and high-energy, featuring police escorts out of the city and a festive finish line. Whether you are a solo rider, part of a team, or riding tandem, you will enjoy a well-supported route that emphasizes the natural beauty of East Texas. After the ride, participants can enjoy the “lumber-themed” festivities of Log Jam Fest, including live music from Americana string bands, food trucks, and local vendors.
Ride Distances and Routes
Pedal in the Pines offers two primary distances, both starting and ending in Historic Downtown Cleveland:
- 52-Mile Route: A scenic endurance loop that dives deep into the National Forest.
- 28-Mile Route: A moderate distance perfect for those wanting a shorter morning in the pines.
- Terrain Note: Both routes are mostly paved but include a few sections of loose gravel, adding a touch of adventure to the ride.
- Navigation: Routes are well-marked, and GPX files are available via Ride with GPS.
Support and Logistics
The Chamber provides professional-grade support to ensure a safe and smooth experience:
- Police Presence: Riders receive a police escort out of Cleveland and benefit from monitored intersections throughout both routes.
- Rest Stops: There are four manned rest stops stocked with refreshments, water, and snacks.
- SAG Support: Multiple SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles patrol the course for mechanical assistance and safety.
- Post-Ride Reward: Finishers can enjoy tacos and refreshing beverages at the finish line while taking in the live entertainment.
Event Schedule
- 6:00 AM: On-site registration and packet pick-up begins.
- 7:00 AM: Official Ride Start (Rain or Shine).
- 10:00 AM: Log Jam Fest activities begin in Downtown Cleveland.
Registration and Fees
Participants are encouraged to register before October 31 to guarantee an event t-shirt.
- Individual Entry: $55.00
- Team Entry: $50.00
- Veteran Discount: $45.00
- Tandem Entry: $45.00 – $50.00 (varies by distance)
