Marfa 100

High Desert Horizons and the “Toughest 100K in Texas”

Date: Saturday, October 17, 2026

Location: USO Building (Race Headquarters), 302 S Highland Ave, Marfa, TX 79843

Event Information

The Marfa 100 is a unique high-desert cycling challenge that has grown from a local ride into an internationally recognized event. As contractors for this event, we are excited to showcase a course that captures the stark, minimalist beauty of the Chihuahuan Desert. Starting in the iconic arts hub of Marfa, the ride takes you out and back along the stunning Pinto Canyon Road (RM-2810), a route famous for its low traffic and expansive views of the Chinati Mountains.

This ride is as much about the community as it is about the competition. The event brings together local ranchers, world-renowned artists, and professional cyclists for a weekend of desert camaraderie. October is peak season in Marfa, offering the most pleasant riding temperatures of the year—though we strongly advise securing your lodging as early as possible.

Ride Options & Course Details

The event offers two primary distances, both starting at an elevation of approximately 4,800 feet:

  • 100K Race: A chip-timed, competitive out-and-back ride that turns around at mile 31. With a total elevation gain of roughly 2,800 feet, the gradual climbs and desert winds provide a rigorous test for any cyclist.
  • 50K Fun-Ride: A relaxed version of the classic route that turns around at mile 16. This option is open to e-bikes and other person-powered transportation, making it perfect for families and recreational enthusiasts.
  • Virtual Option: For those who cannot make it to West Texas, a virtual ride is available; completion entitles you to the event t-shirt and inclusion in the online results.

Support and Amenities

Participants are treated to a premium level of support in this remote landscape:

  • Aid Stations: Fully stocked stations are located at mile markers 10, 20, and 31 (turn-around).
  • Post-Ride Party: Celebrations take place at the USO Building and feature a full lunch and drinks (including a beer of your choice for participants 21+).
  • Swag & Awards: Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt and local discount coupons. Overall winners in the 100K (Male, Female, Non-Binary, and Paracycling) receive custom Marfa 100 winners’ jerseys.

Lodging and Logistics

Marfa is a small town with high demand. We recommend checking these local favorites:

  • Hotels: Hotel St George, Hotel Paisano, Thunderbird Hotel, and The Lincoln.
  • Camping/Glamping: El Cosmico and Tumble In.
  • Pro-Tip: Many Airbnbs open 90 days in advance. If Marfa is full, Alpine is a 30-minute drive away and offers additional options.

Registration and Local Discounts

Tri-county residents (Presidio, Brewster, and Jeff Davis) are eligible for a local rider discount. Please email the organizers at [email protected] before registering to receive your code.
