About the Ride:
Presented by LyondellBasell, Bike Around the Bay and Bike Around the Island are unique fundraising events that support Galveston Bay Foundation while giving cyclists an unforgettable experience along the Texas Gulf Coast.
- Bike Around the Bay (BAB): Two-day fully supported ride looping Galveston Bay. Riders depart Baytown, travel to Galveston on Day One (97.5 miles), then return to Baytown on Day Two (76 miles). One-day options are available (Saturday or Sunday). Highlights include the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, a ferry crossing to Galveston, Moody Gardens festivities, the Galveston Causeway, Kemah Bridge, and Fred Hartman Bridge.
- Bike Around the Island (BAI): A one-day event on October 18, starting and finishing at Moody Gardens. Riders can choose a 20- or 43-mile out-and-back route with full support, breakfast, and post-ride entertainment.
Fundraising Requirements:
- Two-Day Rider (BAB): $250 minimum
- One-Day Rider (BAB): $175 minimum
- Bike Around the Island Rider (BAI): $100 minimum
Note: Minimum fundraising must be met prior to packet pickup.
Ride Requirements:
- Minimum age: 12 years old to ride solo (younger riders may join tandem with a guardian).
- Helmets required (ANSI, Snell, or ASTM approved).
- No use of earphones, radios, or phones while riding.
Extras:
- Breakpoints every 10–15 miles with hydration and snacks.
- Dinner, entertainment, and overnight festivities at Moody Gardens for two-day riders.
- Bus transportation available for Saturday one-day riders ($35, advance purchase recommended).
