About the Ride:
Save the date! Make plans now to get out to the mountains. Most beautiful road race in Texas!
Come race the “Texas Alps”, one of the most challenging courses in the Southwest. Stage one will start in front of the Hotel Limpia. There are 10 miles to warm up, THEN 6 miles of real climbing (up to 17% grades) to the top of Mt. Locke. Enjoy! Some categories will finish at the bottom of the observatory climb. Stage two will also begin in front of the Hotel Limpia on Saturday afternoon and is an 18 mile road race out Hwy 166 on fast, “flat”, straight roads, finishing at Crow’s Nest. Stage three on Sunday morning, will begin in front of the Hotel Limpia and wind through the mountains of the Scenic Loop back to town. The altitude goes from 5000′ to over 6500′ and climbs are steep and numerous. All routes will have neutral starts out of town and will finish in town in front of the Hotel Limpia. The 49 mile route will go from Fort Davis to McDonald Observatory Visitor Center and back.
