Date: February 12, 2022

Event: Liberty Freedom Ride

Route Distances: 18, 38, 75 miles

About the Ride:

The Liberty Freedom Ride takes you through the countryside of Liberty County. We are just a stone’s throw away from the Houston metro area but we retain the rural roots that brought us this far. Come ride our routes and see fertile farmland with cows and scenic rural areas unspoiled by overdevelopment. This is not a race but a ride.

Register at active.com (search Liberty Freedom Ride) or click the registration tab under Liberty Freedom Ride on this page . Late registration is available onsite from 7:00AM to 8:00AM.

All rides begin at the Liberty Center 1829 Sam Houston, Liberty, TX. All routes have good shoulders and have rest stops every 8 to 12 miles. All routes end at the Start/finish line.

Numbers should be worn so they are visible from the front. SAG assistance will be for numbered riders only.

SAG wagons and support vehicles will be provided. Rest stops will have fresh fruit, snacks, cold drinks, water etc. Rest stops will be manned by fun, encouraging people from the area, you won’t want to miss them.

Helmets are required. All traffic laws must be obeyed as the roads will not be closed to traffic. Please ride on the shoulder when possible. Drink plenty of fluids before and during the ride. Ride no more than two abreast. No vehicle drafting allowed. Ride will be held rain or shine.

Gumbo will be provided to all riders. Extra meals may be purchased onsite.

DRIVE THRU Early packet pickup will be Friday, February 11th, from 4:00PM to 6;00PM at 1517 Trinity Str. in Liberty, TX 77575 (across from the post office). Please use this if at all possible!

**Note**

We know there is much uncertainty about events and Covid-19 issues but we are doing our best to remove any fears people may have. With that in mind, here are some thoughts for you:
  1. We have been listening to health authorities who believe that the omicron variant may peak before the ride. Regardless, our food prep staff will be masked and gloved before attempting to serve our riders. Rest stops will have sanitation stations and you can distance yourselves as riders. We believe this will be a safe and healthy event for everyone!
  2. We are having a traditional mass start at 8AM where you can be as spaced out as you wish but we are also having a delayed start until 8:30AM for people who may want to avoid the group.
  3. February weather is never easy but I am hopeful that we’ll have a more pleasant forecast than last year. We will never send riders out under dangerous conditions!
  4. This event is a fundraiser for the Liberty ISD Education Foundation and we hope you will encourage your ride groups to come with you.
  5. We have T-shirts for everyone this year, great gumbo and craft beer from local brewers.

We’re excited to see our friends and hope you will be one of our guests on Feb. 12, 2022!
