Route Distances: 22, 34, 65 miles
About the Ride:
This is a historical event. The town of Nigton was founded by freed slaves shortly after the emancipation of 1865. Their descendants celebrate “Founders Day” on the second Saturday of September annually. There is no charge for the bike ride. Instead, riders are asked to patronize the festival vendors or make a donation to the Nigton Historical Development Foundation (non-profit group). The ride offers 3 mileage options & starts at 9 am on all paved roads and traverses through scenic Davy Crockett National Forest and up the infamous Slippy Hill where Ike & Tina Turner and BB King once performed. Sagg and refreshments will be provided. There will be recognition of the riders at the conclusion of the ride. No rider left behind. The festival is a family-oriented event with games and a bouncy house for the kids.
