I rode Tour de Paris 68 mile (110K) last Saturday for the second time. The people in Paris are very accommodating with a true gratitude for riders participating in the event. We choose to participate in the $5 Spaghetti Dinner on Friday and the after ride burger fest with all of the trimmings.
The entire route was open this year on well maintained roads. The town’s people turned out for the ceremonial ride through historic downtown to cheer us on to a good start. All of the rest stops were well stocked. There were a few extra stops provided by sponsors to make the long hot stretches endurable for the less experienced riders. The 110K is not to be taken lightly. There were plenty of hills, headwinds and heat. Cheerleaders welcomed us to the Finish Line. Showers at the end of the ride were a bonus. It made the long drive home endurable. I will ride this again next year.
